1. Agreement to these terms
By using our website, submitting a form, using our ADU cost calculator or other online tools, or communicating with us through the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
These terms are between you and Better Place Remodeling Inc, doing business as Better Place Design & Build, a licensed California design-build contractor, CSLB License #1031735. In these terms, "we," "us," and "our" mean that company. "You" means the person using the site.
How we handle the information you give us is explained in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
You must be at least 18 years old to use this site.
Back to top2. About our services
Everything on this website is general information. It is not a quote, a proposal, or a promise about your specific property.
Cost estimates are not quotes
Any cost range shown by our online calculator, in a guide, in an article, or in an early conversation is an estimate. It is not a quote and it is not a binding offer. It is based on general assumptions and on the limited information available at that moment.
The real cost of an ADU depends on things we cannot know from a web form: your lot, your soil, your setbacks, your utility connections, your city's requirements, your finish selections, and current market pricing. Those factors can move a number significantly in either direction.
Where a real price comes from
A binding scope of work and a binding price come only from a signed written agreement between you and Better Place Remodeling Inc. Nothing on this website, in an email, in a text message, or in a conversation creates a contract or a fixed price until that agreement is signed by both parties.
Plans, designs, and timelines
Floor plans, renderings, photographs, and sample designs on this site are illustrations. They show work we have done or concepts we can build. They do not represent what will be approved, permitted, or built on your property. Any timeline we describe is a general expectation, not a guarantee, and it depends on permitting agencies, utilities, inspections, and conditions outside our control.
We build detached ADUs in San Diego County. Availability, service area, and the projects we take on can change at any time.
Back to topText messaging
3. Text messaging terms
We only text people who have asked us to. This section explains how that works, what we send, and how to stop.
How you give consent
We send text messages only to people who have given us express written consent. You give that consent by ticking an optional consent box on a form on our website. That box is never pre-checked. You have to tick it yourself. If you do not tick it, we do not text you.
Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of purchase. It is never a condition of booking an appointment. You can ask us for a consultation, a cost range, or an ADU without agreeing to receive texts.
What we send
- Appointment confirmations and reminders for consultations, site visits, and meetings.
- Project updates about the design, permitting, and construction of your ADU.
- Marketing and promotional messages about our ADU services, offers, and events.
Frequency, rates, and carriers
- Message frequency varies.
- Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier sets those rates, not us.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How to stop, and how to get help
Reply STOP to any message from us to opt out. You will get one message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and then we will stop texting you.
Reply HELP to any message from us for help. You can also reach a person directly.
You are responsible for telling us if your mobile number changes or is reassigned to someone else. Opting out of text messages does not opt you out of email or phone calls, and it does not affect any project we are already working on together.
Our commitment
Mobile opt-in data and consent are never shared or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
Your mobile number and your consent to receive text messages stay with us. We use them only to send you the messages described above, through the messaging providers who deliver those messages on our behalf. We do not rent, sell, or pass that information to anyone else for their own marketing.
4. Email communications and how to unsubscribe
When you contact us, we may email you. Some of those emails are about your inquiry or your project. Others are marketing emails about our ADU services, offers, and events.
Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and we will stop sending you marketing email. You can also reply to any email and ask us to remove you, or email [email protected].
Unsubscribing from marketing email does not stop emails we need to send you about an active project, an appointment, or an agreement. If you want those to stop, tell us and we will discuss it.
Back to top5. Intellectual property
Everything on this website belongs to us. That includes the text, images, photographs, graphics, logos, videos, layouts, designs, and floor plans, along with the way it is all arranged and presented.
This material is our exclusive property and is protected by United States copyright law, trademark law, and other intellectual property laws. "Better Place Design & Build," our logos, and our taglines are our trademarks.
You may view this website, and you may print or download a copy of a page for your own personal, non-commercial use while you are considering an ADU. That is the only permission we give. Everything else requires our written consent.
Back to top6. Prohibited uses
You agree not to do any of the following:
- Copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, or license any part of this website or its content.
- Use our text, photographs, renderings, or floor plans in your own marketing, website, listing, or portfolio.

We may block access, remove content, or take legal action if you do any of these things.
Back to top7. Content you submit to us
You keep ownership of what you send us, such as photos, property documents, plans, measurements, reviews, and messages.
By sending it to us, you give us permission to use it for the purpose you sent it, including evaluating your property, preparing a design or a proposal, and running your project. If you send us a review, a testimonial, or a photo and tell us we may publish it, you also give us permission to use it in our marketing.
You confirm that you have the right to send us what you send, that it does not infringe anyone else's rights, and that it is not unlawful, misleading, or offensive. We may remove or refuse any submission for any reason.
Back to top8. Links to third-party websites
Our site may link to websites we do not control, such as city and county permitting pages, lenders, product manufacturers, review platforms, and social media.
We provide those links because they may be useful. We do not control those sites, we do not endorse everything on them, and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or their privacy practices. When you leave our site, the other site's terms and privacy policy apply.
Back to top9. Disclaimers
This website is provided as is. We do our best to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise that it will be.
THE WEBSITE AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS, AND ESTIMATES ON IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
In plain terms, that means we do not guarantee that the site will be uninterrupted or error free, that the information on it is complete or current, that our cost calculator will match what your project actually costs, or that any regulation, permitting rule, or program we describe still applies when you read it. ADU rules in California and in the City and County of San Diego change often. Confirm anything important with the agency that governs your property, and confirm your own numbers with us in writing.
This section does not limit any warranty we give you in a signed construction agreement, and it does not affect any right you have under the California license law that governs our work.
Back to top10. Limitation of liability
This section limits what we owe you if something goes wrong with the website. It does not apply to our construction work, which is covered by your signed agreement and by California law.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, BETTER PLACE REMODELING INC AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS WEBSITE OR YOUR RELIANCE ON ANY CONTENT OR ESTIMATE ON IT.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY RELATING TO THIS WEBSITE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
Some states do not allow these limits. If you live somewhere that does not allow them, this section applies to you only as far as the law allows. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited by law.
Back to top11. Indemnification
If your use of this website causes a claim against us, you agree to cover it.
Specifically, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Better Place Remodeling Inc and its owners, employees, and contractors from any claim, loss, liability, or expense, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that arises from your use of the website, your breach of these terms, your violation of any law, or your violation of anyone else's rights.
Back to top12. Governing law and where disputes are heard
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
Any dispute arising out of these terms or your use of this website will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California. You and we both agree to that venue and to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Before filing anything, please contact us. Most issues are faster to solve with a phone call.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
Back to top13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of the page and post the new version here. Continuing to use the site after we post a change means you accept it.
The version posted on this page is the version that applies.
Back to top14. How to contact us
